I taught my last classes as May Day approached. UMM will hold a mask and gown graduates and faculty only semi-virtual socially distanced commencement on May 8, followed by a (hopefully) post-pandemic parade through Machias to celebrate the graduates and their families.  With half the garden planted, daffodils exploding, trees and lawn greening, loons crooning, owls hooting and Cathance Lake slowly warming, Gordon Lightfoot’s idyllic “Time for a Summertime Dream” has returned as an earworm, although some of the news suggests that Alice Cooper’s punky and nightmarish “School’s Out”  is also on the playlist.

Supporting the Lightfoot Dream
New Covid cases, infection rates and fatalities continue to fall in Maine and the nation, while vaccination climbs. The legacy media is doing its best to obfuscate and gaslight that narrative, but after twenty plus years of partisan hackery, their ability to control the narrative and mislead Americans is shrinking though not eliminated.
The charade that President  Biden is a “moderate” “nice guy” who is “fully competent” and in control is becoming less believable every day, despite the best efforts of the legacy media. Whom are you going to believe, MSNBC, CNN, Joy Reid, Andrea Mitchell, Chuck Todd and the rest of assorted partisan hack chorus, or your own eyes and ears?
The French (!) Prime minister and some 1100 retired military (!) officers are sounding the alarm about how critical race theory and Islamism are damaging French society and the ideals of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. Perhaps the old trope of French surrender is not quite as valid as some thought.

Supporting the Cooper Nightmare
The supine Democratic controlled legislature will leave Governor Mills’ emergency powers unchecked. Empress Janet and her Prime Minister Dr. Shah responded by slightly loosening the mask mandate. I am predicting that mask mandates and freedom restrictions will remain largely in place until after the 2022 mid-term and gubernatorial elections, and perhaps longer. It is a Fauccian Bargain.
Climate Czar, former Secretary of State, gigolo and serial traitor John Kerry ratted out the Israelis to the Iranians, but will face no consequences for it. He is just a loyal capo for the Biden crime family.
The grimly masked female “role models” behind President Biden at the controlled faux “Congressional address” looked like a cross between  Madame Defarge and Nurse Ratched.
Vice-President Harris, touted by the left as a role model for young girls, is a power hungry hypocrite who slept her way to the top. President Biden has put her in charge of solving the border crisis he created. So far, she has said that the primary cause of the immigrant wave is climate change. Therefore, we have to stop using fossil fuels to reduce illegal immigration. Really.
The crying-to-be defunded FBI and Biden Justice Department orchestrated a 6 AM search and seizure raid on Rudy Giuliani, the third personal attorney of former President Trump to have his records seized. However, Hunter Biden’s laptop hard drive was declined. Equal justice under the law is not a Biden crime family value. I am going to ask our Democratic Representative to Congress to defund the FBI and Justice Department in light of their systemic bias and inability to administer the law equally and equitably.
