Music on the Green at Flat Iron Park continues each Tuesday evening throughout the summer, offering free live entertainment in downtown Calais. The next concert, set for Tuesday, July 8, will feature Pitch Black Ribbons, performing a blend of Americana folk, blues, and rock beginning at 6:30 p.m. This performance is sponsored by Jo’s Diner & Pizzeria, Dead River, and Calais Community Hospital. For updates on the concert series, follow CDRC - Calais Downtown Revitalization Coalition on Facebook.

The annual kids’ games on July 4 are set for the Dicenzo Athletic Complex this Friday, July 4. These take place from 8 to 11 a.m. for children up to age 12.

The Calais Free Library’s children’s summer reading program has kicked off, but kids can still join in. It takes place every Thursday through July 31 from noon to 1 p.m. Also for young readers, the library is hosting “Reading with a Ranger,” hosted by Saint Croix Island International Historic Site, each Tuesday through July 22, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. For full program details, contact the library at 207-454-2758.

Flat Iron Park will come alive with music and fellowship on Saturday, July 12, and again on Saturday, July 19, for Gospel on the Green. Both evenings begin at 6 p.m. and will feature worship led by the Calvary Chapel Praise Team, special music by members of Second Baptist Church, and an uplifting message shared by Bill Bristol. All are welcome to gather, sing, and celebrate faith in this community-centered outdoor event.

Time is running out to be part of this year’s International Homecoming Festival Street Fair, set for Saturday, August 9. Applications are now being accepted from vendors of all sorts — crafters, artisans, jewelry makers, food sellers, and more — and can be found online at https://visitstcroixvalley.com/events.

Send me your news, your shout-outs for good deeds done, or your well wishes to give, and I’ll be sure to share them here. Until next week, I hope you stay well, stay safe, and be happy.
