Many may have noticed recently on various social media platforms Chevrolet’s #IDriveFor campaign. For nine years in a row, Chevrolet has partnered with the American Cancer Society to support its Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program. With every #IDriveFor Twitter or Instagram post made during October, Chevrolet donated $5 to the American Cancer Society.
Ian Pratt of Pratt Family Dealerships goes one step above Chevrolet’s program. For the last number of years, Pratt has also made a local donation of $1,500 to Calais Regional Hospital.
“I want to help raise money for the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research, but I also want to be able to help out our local health care provider to be able to provide free mammogram screenings for those who can’t afford them,” Pratt said.
Recognizing the importance of early detection, Pratt added, “Financial need should never be a reason for one not to have their breast screening done. No one in this area should ever feel as though they can’t get proper screenings due to financial need.”
“This is fantastic,” Calais Regional Hospital Rod Boula said. “You don’t see many businesses participate in endeavors like this to provide an avenue for people to get the care that they need. That’s what’s important.”
