Blue Devils Hold Off Dragons in High School Basketball Action

At Woodland on Thursday, February 3, Coach Dean Preston’s Blue Devils were quite possibly considered the underdogs going into the contest, but Calais took the win over the Dragons, 55-39.
Skinny Dana led all, dropping in 18 points to go along with his 15 rebounds for Calais.
Jace Cook added another 16 points and Jacob Sockabasin 12. Sockabasin also grabbed 20 rebounds.
Other scorers for Calais were Kaden Small with 5 points and Alex Richard and Evan Gillespie, each with 2.
For Woodland, Brogan Brown and Ethan Monk contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Also in the scoring column for the Dragons were Cyrus Sewell with 7 points, Shain McIver with 6, and Wyatt MacArthur with 4.
Machias @ Woodland
Earlier in the week, on Monday, January 31, Woodland fell to the undefeated Machias Bulldogs, 61-57.
Ethan Monk led with 24 points to go with his 9 rebounds. Wyatt MacArthur dropped in another 14 points.
Other scorers for the Dragons were Brogan Brown with 8; Justin Overlock and Shain McIver, each with 4, and Reece Sabattus with 3.
Mattanawcook Academy @ Woodland
The Dragons picked up a win on Saturday against Lincoln’s Mattanawcook Academy, 54-36.
Wyatt MacArthur led for Woodland with 18 points, along with 10 rebounds. Also in double digits were Ethan Monk, who added another 15 points, along with 7 rebounds, and Shain McIver with 10 points.
Others making the scoring column for the winners were Brogan Brown with 6 points, Justin Overlock with 3, and Gauge Howard with 2.
Narraguagus @ Calais
The Blue Devils picked up another win later in week, 80-46, this time, their last regular-season home game where they faced Narraguagus.
Jace Cook led for Calais with his 19 points, followed by Alex Richard with 14, Evan Gillespie with 13, and Skinny Dana with 12.
Other scorers for the winners were Jeremy Turner and Jacob Sockabasin, each with 6 points; Shawn Donahue with 5 points; Landon Ritchie with 4, and Kaden Small with 1.
According to Coach Preston, the boys have improved their record to 9-8, giving them the number six spot in Class C North. Their final game of the regular season was scheduled for Tuesday at George Stevens Academy.
