Wednesday afternoon, April 16, is the deadline to preorder takeout for the baked bean supper at Calais United Methodist Church, which takes place on Thursday, April 17, at 5 p.m. The supper will feature casseroles, coleslaw, rolls, pie, and more. To place an order, call 207-454-3926.
This Saturday is the community-wide Easter Egg Hunt for kids. Eggs should be placed out by 9 a.m. at participating homes and businesses. To add your location to the list, visit the Facebook group Support for All Things Calais Area or contact Anne Scott at [email protected]. The Calais High School National Honor Society, advised by Mrs. Scott, will also be hosting an egg hunt at Calais Elementary School starting at 9 a.m.
As in previous years, the Calais Fire Association will host the Easter Bunny for a morning of fun at the fire station from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday.
A free health screening clinic for children and teens will be held this Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Masonic Hall on Calais Avenue. Clinicians will be available to evaluate children with orthopedic conditions, burn injuries, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate. There is no cost to attend, and walk-ins are welcome. For more information, visit anahshriners.org.
The Calais Lioness Club is once again organizing the much-anticipated community-wide yard sale on Saturday, April 26. While the club won’t be hosting a table of their own this year, they encourage everyone to participate, either by setting up a sale or by exploring what others have to offer. Last year’s event drew bargain hunters from all over and proved to be a fun and successful day. To join the list or view participating addresses, check out the Calais Lioness Club Facebook page.
Also on the 26th, the Wabanaki Spring Market will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wabanaki Culture Center. This event celebrates Wabanaki art, culture, and community. For more information, contact Lynn Mitchell at 207-454-2126.
