A structure fire that erupted on Monday afternoon, May 27, at a South Street residence in Calais has been deemed as accidental, according to State Fire Marshal officials, Calais Fire Chief Bill Lee reported.

The blaze left a family of seven homeless.  “The house is not liveable currently,” Chief Lee stated.

Tragically, the family, which includes five children, lost all their belongings and two cats in the fire.
