According to Calais Police Department Sgt. Matt Vinson, the number of motorists passing school buses when lights are flashing has increased in recent weeks.

Passing school buses with lights flashing is a major safety concern, Vinson explained, and each year, many local drivers are issued summonses for driving around school buses parked in the schoolyard while the bus lights are flashing.
