[Breaking News] Missing woman’s body found 6.6 miles down river from Calais at Todd Point

On Sunday, July 14, The Calais Advertiser received confirmation from NB RCMP Central Dispatch that the body of 68-year old Edith Lorraine Williams had been discovered along the shore of the St. Croix River at Todd's Point.  The location of where the body was discovered shows the body traveled a considerable distance before being discovered.

Williams, of St. Stephen, was last seen around 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 7.  She was reported missing on Monday, July 8, just after midnight.  

Over the last week, members of the St. Stephen RCMP and more than 250 people assisted in the search for Williams.  Efforts in the search were also made by ground and rescue search teams from across New Brunswick, as well as the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization, the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Energy and Resource Development, and the Town of St. Stephen and its fire department.

According to RCMP, the body was discovered along the shore of the St. Croix River, at Todd’s Point, by members of the St. Stephen Fire Department.  

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
