Brendan Leddy Memorial Fund Continues to Support Local Youth

 

The Brendan Leddy Memorial Fund (BLMF), powered by the Calais Skatepark Committee, met 10 youth skateboarders at 7 a.m. this past Saturday for a road trip to the Bath Indoor Skatepark.

The BLMF made sure these riders were geared up with helmets, knee pads, skateboards, and of course snacks and drinks, for the 400+ mile van ride to Bath, Maine.

Dragons Softball Bounces Back from Season Opener Loss

Woodland softball had its season opener last week at a home game against the Narraguagus Knights on Wednesday, April 19.

Pitching for the Knights dominated the game as they handed the Dragons a 13-0 loss with Nicole Cox having the only hit for Woodland.

The Dragons bounced back on Saturday, April 22, when they traveled to Lee Academy, beating the Pandas 24-0.

On Wednesday, May 3, the Calais Blue Devils hosted the Lee Academy Pandas.

Lee Academy jumped out quickly with a 2-0 lead and never looked back, beating the Blue Devils 8-3.

Ryley Case threw six strong innings for Calais, allowing only five hits.

Ethan Barnard and Kaeson Dana each had two hits for the Blue Devils.

On Friday, May 5, Calais traveled to Houlton for a doubleheader against the Shires.

On Monday, May 8, Calais hosted Jonesport-Beals.

The Blue Devils were victorious, picking up a 9-6 win over the Royals.

Kaeson Dana, Muwin Dana, and Ike Soucy all had hits for Calais, while both Danas had RBIs.

The Calais Blue Devils traveled to Harrington on Monday, May 15 to do battle with the Narraguagus Knights.  The Knights got the best of the Blue Devil boys, earning the 11-2 win.  Ryley Case had two of Calais’s five total hits.

 On Wednesday, May 17, the Blue Devils traveled to take on the Royals of Jonesport-Beals High School.  Calais dropped a hard-fought game, 14-7.

On Monday, May 15, the Calais Blue Devils softball team traveled to Narraguagus for a match up with the Lady Knights.  Narraguagus finished on top in a back-and-forth game, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh to earn the 8-7 win.

In Calais’s only game last week, the Blue Devils jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead in the first inning when they hosted the Shead Tigers on Friday, May 26.  They then cruised to a 10-0 win.

Ryley Case threw a complete game three hitter, striking out six Tiger batters.

Case, Keegan Trainor, Muwin Dana, and Kaeson Dana all had hits for Calais.
