In an exciting Friday night matchup last week in Woodland, sophomore Kaylin Hamilton’s impressive 34-point performance, combined with sophomore Karleigh Smith’s clutch three-pointer to force overtime, led Woodland to a 73-61 victory over Narraguagus.

Coach Leeman’s Dragons staged a remarkable comeback in the final eight minutes of the game, scoring 27 points, with Smith’s deep three-pointer tying the game at 59 by the end of regulation.

North Atlantic Conference Names Fall 2023 All-Academic Team

 

A total of 505 student-athletes from the 14 institutions of the North Atlantic Conference have been recognized with Fall 2023 NAC All-Academic Team honors.

In order to be eligible for All-Academic honors, student-athletes must be participating members of their respective teams and achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Member institutions are responsible for identifying eligible student-athletes.

There was a remarkable display of talent displayed over the weekend in Augusta as members of the Downeast Wrestling Club grappled their way to victory at The Battle of the Capital this past Sunday, January 28.

The squad was represented by ten dedicated athletes, who each showcased their athleticism on the mat, securing commendable placements in their respective categories.

At Shead High School in Eastport on Wednesday night, Jan. 24, sophomore Karleigh Smith and freshman Mishun Cornelius propelled the Woodland Dragons team to a 54-41 victory over the Tigerettes. 

Both girls dropped in 18 points for the winners.  Cornelius also dominated the boards with an impressive 24 rebounds

Calais Lady Blue Devils End Week with a Win

The Calais Lady Blue Devils traveled to Machias to take on the Lady Bulldogs on Wednesday, Jan. 31, only to suffer a setback with a score of 50-36.  

Junior Kate McPhee emerged as a standout for Calais, leading the charge with an impressive 13 points and securing 15 rebounds. 

Senior Brenna Critchley also made her mark with 10 points, while freshman Kaci Small contributed eight points to the effort.

In a match held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, the Woodland Lady Dragons, with a team of just six players and a first-year varsity coach–Kieve Leeman, secured a 42-25 win against the visiting Shead Tigerettes.

Sophomore Kaylin Hamilton led all with 12 points, coupled with a tally of eight rebounds.
