Robbinston Days was celebrated on August 3 at the Robbinston Community Center on Route 1. The Touch-A-Truck kicked off the fun-filled day, with music and food following. King announced on Aug. 2 that he received a notice of intent to award King Construction a $450,000 contract for repair and renovations of the iconic red and white candy-striped tower and map room at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse.

That’s according to Machias Town Manager Bill Kitchen who made that statement as a reminder to the town’s selectboard at the close of its Aug. 14 meeting. And indeed, last weekend’s 47th annual edition of the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival proved wild in a good way.

Pembroke Library’s #1 Reader

Last Saturday, August 17, four-year-old Edith Stewart, daughter of Samantha and James Stewart of Charlotte, was awarded the Pembroke Library’s #1 Reader Award and Certificate. Edith has checked out the most books not only in 2024, but also in 2023 and 2022 for a total of 514 books.  She was also given a gift bag of books and a gift certificate donated by Michelle Curtis, owner of the Polar Treat in Perry.  Congratulations, Edith!
