Forest Fire Rages Near Saint Andrews, NB

Smoke, and even flames, could be seen for miles on Sunday, May 28, when a fire broke out in the Bocabec-Chamcook, New Brunswick area, near Saint Andrews.

According to CBC News, the fire was started by an ATV in the woods.

Charlotte Voters Reject School Budget

On Wednesday, May 25th, the budget for the Charlotte Elementary School was rejected.

At the town meeting in Charlotte, the town voted against the budget for Charlotte Elementary School’s 2023-2024 year.

In Article 38, the School Committee recommended that the budget for the school be $297,541.43.  The article was voted against with 50 opposed and 34 in favor.

Woodland High School Sends off 33 at Graduation

Graduation for the Woodland High School Class of 2023 was held Saturday morning, June 3, in front of a full gymnasium.  The 33 graduates marched to their seats, led by Class President Braden Richard, to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstances,” in front of faculty and staff, friends and family, and other members of the community.

Woodland Elementary School recently performed their Annual Spring Concert. 

The gymnasium was filled to capacity as the Beginner Band, Chorus, and Advanced Band showcased their talents. Of special note, the chorus presented a piece entItled “Mother Maine,” which was written by Maine composer Lee Southard.

ARRL Field Day this Weekend

 

Ham radio operators from the St. Croix Valley Amateur Radio Club will be participating in a national amateur radio exercise from 2 p.m. on Saturday until 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 25 – 26. This year's event will be taking place at the Alexander Elementary School grounds, 1430 Airline Road, Alexander. 

The event is ARRL Field Day (www.arrl.org/FieldDay), an annual amateur radio activity organized since 1933 by ARRL, the National Association for Amateur Radio in the United States.
