The top-ranked Katahdin High School Cougars, of Stacyville, who reached the Northern Maine Class D Championship last year before falling to Bangor Christian, faced off against the Woodland Dragons in a Northern Maine semi-final baseball game on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

After a lengthy rain delay, Woodland surged ahead with an 8-0 lead by the fourth inning and ultimately secured an 8-3 victory.

The Calais High School varsity softball team held a successful color run on Saturday, June 8. According to Coach Honor Wilkinson, the event was a huge success and an explosion of fun!

Nail Biting Losses for Local Teams in High School Baseball, Softball Tournaments

The 2024 spring baseball and softball season was the most successful in a very long time for Washington County schools.

Four teams went into the postseason with legitimate chances to make a deep playoff run and play for a regional championship.  Three of those teams did reach the title game, but unfortunately, they all ended in heartbreaking defeats.

Calais High Girls Soccer Secures 7-0 Victory Over Narraguagus

In a dominant display on Sept. 5, Coach Tom Parks led the Calais High School girls soccer team to a resounding 7-0 win against Narraguagus.  

Kayleigh Scott, Sarah Wentworth, and Alexis Bowen each contributed goals. The standout performance came from Natalie MacDonald, who notched a hat trick in the victory.

Lady Devils Score New Uniforms Thanks to St. Croix Lodge #46

The Calais High School Lady Devils soccer team recently received much-needed new uniforms, thanks to the generosity of St. Croix Lodge #46.  The lodge, through its youth matching grant with the Grand Lodge of Maine, funded half the cost of the uniforms.

“The uniforms are in and look great,” said Coach Tom Parks.
